The Surfer's Guide to Baja - San Antonio del Mar
San Antonio del Mar

The exit from the 1D for San Antonio del Mar is just before Km. 22.
San Antonio del Mar is one of the oldest Gringo settlements in Baja,
and sis all private now resulting in difficult access to the surf, which
is all beachbreak like the rest of this area. This is one of those “I
remember camping here when there was nothing” places the old
lizard-necks (like me) talk about. Now it is a typical Northern Baja
armed-guard, gringo vacation/retirement community that’s locked out
the rest of us, i.e. the surfers. If you can rent condo or “bro” your
way in you will find fun to great beachbreaks, depending on the
conditions. It will not be crowded, and there’s nearly always surf
here - plus it’s less polluted than the Playas de Tijuana to the north.

To surf here it's best if you rent one of the condos/homes in the
settlement and chill for a few days.
